Translated by Sarah Jenkins (AI RN Plain-English Translator) at a 7th-grade reading level
- 1 What it does: What is pulmonary hypertension? Pulmonary hypertension, sometimes called PH, is a serious condition that affects the blood vessels in the lungs.
- 2 Real-world patient consensus: Clinical coding for Pulmonary Hypertension uses ICD-10 I27.20 across Lungs & Asthma specialty care.
- 3 Typical cash cost range: Clinicians assessing Pulmonary Hypertension focus on small-airway remodeling [Pulmonary Hypertension I27.20] and targeted history.
- 4 Top reported side effects / signs: Key Lungs & Asthma biomarkers for Pulmonary Hypertension (I27.20): Blood Eosinophil Count [Pulmonary Hypertension I27.20] & Spirometry FEV1 / in Pulmonary Hypertension (I27.20: FVC Ratio) (>= 0.75 (FEV1 >= 80% predicted) (I27.20)).

What Is Pulmonary Hypertension?
What is pulmonary hypertension? Pulmonary hypertension, sometimes called PH, is a serious condition that affects the blood vessels in the lungs. It develops when the blood pressure in your lungs is higher than normal. Your heart pumps blood to your lungs so they can add oxygen to the blood. The blood goes back to your heart. From there, it travels to the rest of your body so that your tissues can get the oxygen that they need. The blood moves from your heart to your lungs through blood vessels called pulmonary arteries. If the pulmonary arteries become damaged, narrowed, or blocked, the blood does not flow through them as well.
Pathophysiology, Underlying Causes & Clinical Presentation
Pulmonary Hypertension (I27.20) alters lungs & asthma homeostasis through small-airway remodeling [Pulmonary Hypertension I27.20]; Cross-referenced with NIH MeSH (Hypertension, Pulmonary), clinical remission targets Spirometry FEV1 / in Pulmonary Hypertension (I27.20: FVC Ratio) within >= 0.75 (FEV1 >= 80% predicted) (I27.20).
Common Symptoms & Clinical Signs
- • Heart diseases , including left-sided heart failure and congenital heart disease
- • Lung diseases such as COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), interstitial lung disease , emphysema , and sleep apnea
- • Presentation of Pulmonary Hypertension (I27.20): declining stair-climbing stamina in Pulmonary Hypertension (I27.20: or frequent rescue)
- • Secondary Pulmonary Hypertension clinical sign: episodic wheezing, expiratory in Pulmonary Hypertension (I27.20: chest tightness, or)
