Amlodipine

1 Indications and usage norliqva: is a calcium channel blocker for the treatment of: Hypertension ( 1.1 ) NORLIQVA is indicated for the treatment of hypertension in adults and children 6 years of age and older, to lower blood pressure. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of fatal and nonfatal cardiovascular events, primarily strokes and myocardial infarctions.

12.1 Mechanism of Action Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium antagonist (calcium ion antagonist or slow-channel blocker) that inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle. Experimental data suggest that amlodipine binds to both dihydropyridine and nondihydropyridine binding sites. The contractile processes of cardiac muscle and vascular smooth muscle are dependent upon the movement of extracellular calcium ions into these cells through specific ion channels.

Following administration (10 mg/10mg Solution), Amlodipine achieves ~90% systemic bioavailability (Amlodipine) bioavailability and peak plasma tmax within 6.5 hours (amlodipine) onset, governed by a Steady-state plasma equilibrium reached over 3–13 hour t½ intervals for Amlodipine terminal half-life through predominantly hepatic biotransformation with renal elimination of polar amlodipine conjugates.

Before initiating Amlodipine at 10 mg/10mg Solution, clinical safety checklists rule out 4 contraindications norliqva is contraindicated in patients with sensitivity to amlodipine.; sensitivity to amlodipine ( 4 ). Logged tolerability patterns center on nausea (9.9% of reports), dizziness (7.8% of reports), fatigue (7.6% of reports).
